The need to unplug and get outdoors – Doctors Orders
“The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness” – John Muir
A recent blog “Out of Touch in Mongolia”, outlines what we do on our horse trips without mobile phone access, wifi and the internet. Medical science now states that unplugging from our digital world for a few days and spending time in natural surroundings, is not only good for our health, but integral to decision making and life itself. This informative article shows it is now ordered by doctors whose patients are suffering from over work and too much stress. Here in Mongolia, we get outdoors and into the landscape through our horseback riding excursions. We find that door into the universe.
What the doctor ordered – the health benefits of nature
Our multi-day horse trips will get you out of touch and into nature in a way that will bring back your sense of self, peace of mind and a soul relaxed. A horse ride with us is physical, but not tiring, and a refreshing way to escape the digital world we all now live in and regain a sense of balance, as well as introduce you to a new culture, amazing “National Geographic” like scenery, according to a previous guest, and our trusted Mongolian horses. Just being around them can give you a sense of peace.
2016 season – Places going fast (really) – Join us today
We still have places open on our 8 Day and 10 Day Gorkhi-Terelj National Park trips, but they’re filling fast. Our August 14 day Khentii Mountains and Wilderness Conservation trips, are longer, but get us into some of the most stunning scenery and picturesque landscape in Mongolia. Both are true adventure horseback expeditions if you have what it takes to ride with us, some horse riding experience, or barring that, a keen sense of adventure, self-confidence and a moderate standard of physical fitness. Contact us to discuss how you can join.
Wilderness conservation holiday adventure
The 14 Day Wilderness Conservation Holiday Adventure is a great horse ride and a lot of fun, where we and our guests put in a couple of days volunteer work with local rangers deep in the Khentii Mountains. Spending a few days with the rangers deep in the wilderness and hearing their stories is a great way to take home a little of Mongolia with you. This is a true expedition, where guests help with the horse packing and camp duties, learning a lot about how we travel and pack horses. There’s plenty of time to explore on foot and take in the sights, even get in a swim. It’s a way to have a great horse riding adventure and contribute with some important conservation work at a tranquil, remote, mountain lake.
Khentii Mountains Wilderness Expedition
The 14 Day Khentii Mountains Wilderness Expedition is just pure backcountry riding, first through the cultural landscapes of the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, and then into the deeper Khentii mountains and wilderness areas where we’re likely to see moose, wolf, roe deer,` and wild boar. It’s our premier horse ride and best for those who really want to spend time on a horse ride through fantastic country.

Wilderness conservation video
In our previous 2015 season, we made a YouTube video about the Wilderness Conservation Holiday Adventure. We are now in the process of creating a Mongolian version, with Mongolian narration and English sub-titles. This will be for the Mongolian local audience of course, but mainly for the Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area Administration, who oversees the park, to use for their purposes in promoting good park management and responsible tourism practices. We’re just putting the final touches on it now and we’ll put it on YouTube as well.
Ger Stays and Gobi Tours
For short stay travelers who want a taste of the real Mongolia, we have our “Train to Ger” trip for those traveling on the Trans Siberian Railway where they can spend 3 or 4 days with local herders Yadmaa and Davasuren. And for anyone not looking to experience horse travel, we get into the Gobi desert with our local guides Duya and Otgo. Another unique part of Mongolia.
For those of you who have visited Mongolia and spent time with us our guests, you know about these trips. For anyone contemplating a horse trip in Mongolia or just a short visit, can read what others say about our trips and their experiences on our TripAdvisor page.
